Sawaidee-ka!

Hopefully the app has sorted itself out now and I won't have to send a strongly worded email.

It has been a very busy 10 days for me!

Last I posted it was my birthday and I was joining the Topdeck Delve Deep Thailand tour, was also suffering pretty bad traveller's fatigue!

I managed to keep myself awake and going for the tour and had a cracker of a time.

Aum was an absolute legend!

First we got an overnight train from Bangkok to Surat Thani. Not gonna lie, I was nervous. The last time I was on an overnight train I was in Vietnam and it was midnight we boarded. There were 4 bunks to a cabin and it was snug! The door was flimsy as fuck and we managed to get locked in twice in the space of 5 minutes so we ended up not fully closing the door.

This time we boarded at 7.30pm and there were no cabins, instead there was normal train seats that were transformed into beds around 8.30pm. The beds were actually pretty wide, which was good because we had to sleep with our luggage and my backpack is a big bastard now!

And like last time my sleeping bag came in very handy!

I also learned on that ride that I very slightly snore...

I guess my ex was right...

But I've been assured it's just a single gentle snore when I roll over and I do not sound like an asthmatic walrus.

Taking off from the train station
All snuggled up for bed

When we arrived in the morning we got on a bus and drove to Khao Sok National Park. Thailand really is a beautiful country!

I didn't do the cooking class but I did do tubbing and that was very relaxing and fun, especially when it rained.

From there we moved to a hotel actually on the Cheow Lan Lake. Again, so beautiful, I don't have the words but I do have a few pics.

Spent a lot of time swimming in the fresh water and climbed up a waterfall, not on some stairs beside the waterfall, but the actual waterfall.

That was fun!

Yep we hiked up this waterfall
And this bit too

About 2 hours later

Then we made our way to Ko Pha Ngan, which is an island near Ko Samui. Things were a bit interesting on this island. First time I saw weed shops absolutely everywhere! I didn't notice them in Bangkok but then I might've been too knackered and most of my brain power was going in to not getting hit by a car while crossing the road.

Favourite roadhouse stop ever!

So, at Koh Pha Ngan we went to watch a Muay Thai competition. I was keen to go but not keen on seeing the kids competing. That did leave a sour taste in my mouth, especially when one kid knocked the other out cold. Now, I do get it's a sport - the national sport - but I don't like violence (movie violence doesn't count) and I was glad when the grown men started their rounds. I ended up having a really fun time then and when the comp ended around midnight I was ready for bed, so me and a few other 30 somethings went back to the hotel while the others went out pub crawling.

Muay Thai comp

Cut to 2.30am and I am snug in bed enjoying a nice sleep when I hear my roomie stumble in and making noise. I try and ignore it.

Then I hear munting! For the non-Aussies that's vomiting. And there was a lot of munting going on.

I try to ignore it but even after the toilet had flushed my roomie was moving about at the foot of her bed.

So I gave up trying to sleep and turned the light on to see just what the fuck she was doing.

Long story short. She had munted on the end of her bed and the floor and she claimed she had alcohol poisoning.

No! Dumb slut just didn't know her limits and overdid it. So I ended up calling the tour guide to come deal with that while I went for a walk on the beach (our resort was right on the beach). When I went back to the room my roomie was snoring like a trooper and the vomit was still on her bed and the floor...🤢

I'll be fucked if I'm sleeping in that room!

So I grabbed my trusty sleepingbag (literally the best thing I packed!) and went and slept on the beach. I started in a hammock but moved to a beach chair and got about 30 minutes of sleep before the sun rose.

So yeah, I spent the night on a Thai island beach... can't be too upset about that

After that nonsense I moved rooms. My roomie was a grot. She had also left her used bandaid on a table next to my stuff a few days earlier so she was already a feral in my books and this sealed the deal for me.

I love how when I went back to the room she was still passed out and ripped two deep farts while I was packing.

I think that's enough for now. Will post more tomorrow.
